For the second time running this year, Mellieha AC’s own Andrew Grech has been selected to represent Malta on international soil.  Earlier this year, Andrew represented Malta in the Half Marathon World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark where his timing of 1:10:09 broke the national record.

This time Andrew will be travelling to Tbilisi, Georgia for the European Athletics Team Championship 3rd League and will be swapping the roads to the track for the 5,000 metres event.  Andrew will be running alongside athletes from the host nation Georgia, Cyprus, Israel, Moldova, Iceland, Luxembourg, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Montenegro, Andorra, Albania as well as from the Athletic Association of Small States of Europe.

In May, Andrew recorded a personal best on the same distance at the Matthew Micallef St John Track in Marsa as he covered the distance in 15:34.

From all at Mellieha AC, all the best Andrew – you’re taking the Mellieha flag far, far away.
